Furnace Humidifier

A Brief Introduction on the Furnace Humidifier

Furnace HumidifierA furnace humidifier operates the same way as a regular humidifier does. It can provide the proper amount of moisture needed to live comfortably inside your home. A furnace humidifier works by installing it near a furnace. It uses the concept of dispersing moisture in the air by converting water into steam by using the heat the comes from the furnace. Thus, this humidifier works similar to a warm mist humidifier which provides a stream of warm air mist in your home.

There are two types of furnace humidifiers that you can choose for your home. These are the flow-through humidifier and the reservoir humidifier. The flow-through furnace humidifier uses a continuous flow of water to produce warm moisture for the air. On the other hand, a reservoir type uses a container where water is stores until steam is produced and dispersed in the air around you. Choosing which one to use for your home will depend on your need for it. If you have massive need for a warm humidifier, a flow-through type may work best for you.

Components of a Furnace Humidifier

There are five major components needed to make a furnace humidifier work. These are water, water collection unit, warm air stream, water flow control, and humidity control.

Water is the main component used for producing steam that increases the moisture content of the air you breathe. Make sure that you use clean water for this or else your compromising your health when you breathe the product of heated water.

The most common water collection unit is called the evaporator pad. This is important because it collects excess water that cannot be dispersed in the air. In result, proper control of the amount of moisture provided to the air is done correctly.

The warm air stream is the one responsible for heating the water to be transformed into steam. Since this is a furnace humidifier, the air coming from the furnace will provide the warm air stream for the water to be transformed to vapor.

The water flow control is a valve that ensures the correct volume of water is fed into the air humidifier.

The humidity control is usually in the form of a humidistat. The humidistat lets you monitor the amount of humidity in the air. Too much humidity is not also good therefore if this the situation, the furnace humidifier should automatically turn off.
